Eating Disorder Misconceptions
A common mistake for laymen is to think that all kinds of eating disorder are the same. This is absolutely false. Different kinds of eating disorders will typically have very different risk factors associated with them. Even disorders with similar symptoms will often have different kinds of risk factors or causes associated with them. For example, Binge eating disorder and Bulimia nervosa have some very similar symptoms. However, being an overachiever or a workaholic increases one’s risk of suffering from Bulimia nervosa, while this is simply not the case with Binge eating disorder. For proper assessment of risk, please consult a psychiatrist.
