Lumbar degenerative disc disease

My schoolteacher friend could never sit still. She constantly complained of acute low back pain. Her suffering got worse when she bent to pick up her child or a pile of books. She was comfortable with walking or for that matter running to catch the school bus. On some days the nagging pain radiated to the thighs and leg muscles causing numbness and severely disabling her. She began a treatment, which dated back to the time of Hippocrates, 460-370BC, of joint manipulation and traction. Lumbar degenerative disc disease arising out degenerative disc is neither degenerative nor a disease and in fact gets better. My friend did.
