Plaque Psoriasis Accounts For 80% of All Cases

About eighty percent of those who develop psoriasis have plaque psoriasis.  This type begins to develop as reddish patches of raised skin which are covered by a silvery-white looking scale.  This skin condition will, almost always, form on areas such as the knees, elbows, and lower back area, as well as the scalp.  The patches on the scalp are usually a cause of embarrassment to the affected person when they are getting a hair cut or  hair style and realize that the stylist is very uncomfortable with the situation.  Embarrassment can cause emotional stress which negatively affects the psoriasis disorder.
