Shoulder pain due to cervical spine stenosis
How much we take our spine for granted, was brought home to me painfully recently when I was diagnosed with Cervical Spine Stenosis. We bend, move, lift, grasp without giving it a second thought but once we start having difficulties with these simple tasks do we realize the importance of our spine. The spine affects the nerves in the cervical, lumbar and thoracic regions. Of late, I had been having a persistent pain in my shoulder which, as most of us are prone to do, was ignored. I was finally dragged to the doctor by my husband and the doctor explained that my spinal cord had become narrow in the upper neck area which was constricting the nerves and this was why my shoulders were feeling weak and painful. I am on the mend now and I am following the doctor’s advice rigorously.
